10 Places Every Sheffield Student Needs To Eat At In 2017
Among the many struggles of going back to university after the Christmas holidays, one of the hardest to deal with is the fact that you’re going from eating your fill of delicious home-cooked food every day, to eating rubbish as and when you remember to. However, if you’re a student in Sheffield, fear not.
Here are 10 places for you to try out this year that will guarantee you won’t go hungry in 2017.
1. Smoke Barbecue
If you haven’t been here yet, make it one of your belated new year’s resolutions to go. Smoke’s serves every kind of US-style BBQ food you could want and the portions are HUGE, making it the perfect place to line your stomach before a night out or recover from one the day after.
2. Marmadukes Cafe Deli
If you’re after really tasty, really simple, really affordable food, this the place for you. Even if you just nip in for a pot of their Yorkshire tea and a whopping slice of cake, you really can’t go wrong. It’s no fuss and no frills and it works perfectly. 👌
3. Lucky Fox
No one would blame you for thinking that fried chicken and waffles don’t belong together, but it turns out they 100% do. Prepare to have your mind blown by pretty much everything on the menu and do not leave before you’ve tried one of their incredible milkshakes.
4. The Potato Oven
Yep. You read that correctly. Let’s face it, jacket potatoes are the food of life at uni, and we figured at least one of the places on this list of places you should eat at should be somewhere you definitely would go to without fearing you’ll break the bank. From enormous jackets to every kind of panini you could want, this is the cheap and cheerful option you need in your life. No regrets. ✌️
5. The Great Gatsby
Mexican food + cocktails + great music = 💯 You could be forgiven for going in for brunch and still being there at 2am. It’s possible. Their burritos are out of this world and you’ll never be able to drink without a plate of their nachos next to you again.
6. Blue Moon Café
Vegetarian or vegan or neither, you absolutely need to try this place. It’s a super cute café with delicious food, great cakes and it’s in a great location right next to the cathedral. Give it a go, we think you’ll like it.
7. Fear X Loathing
If you love a good burger, there’s a good chance you’ll love it here. The menu’s only small, but you’ll still find it hard to choose what you want because you’ll want it all. They also serve incredibly tasty milkshakes and cocktails. It’s not too expensive either, so it’s definitely worth a visit.
8. Brenda’s Fish & Chips
Are you even a student in Sheffield if you haven’t been to Brenda’s yet? This place speaks for itself. A+ fish and chips. A+ banter. Its only downfall, if you can call it that, is that it’s not open long enough, so make sure you’re there by 12 to get the finest fish, battered sausage and chips for the cheapest price you’ve ever seen.
9. Revolution Sheffield
Don’t even pretend that you don’t like Vodka Revs. It’s easy to write it off as just a place for day drinking or pres, but seriously, the food is 👌👌👌. The menu is huge and they do 50% off every Monday, which really gives you no excuse not to try it.
10. The Graduate
If you’re a University of Sheffield student, it’s time to put your rivalry with Hallam aside. This pub might be a convenient favourite with Hallam students, but it’s also a really great pub with a menu that’s every student’s dream. Think: all the carbs you can stomach at a teeny, tiny price. Treat yourself.
