This Email Conversation Proves That Uni Flatmates Are The Absolute Worst
Moving to uni is stressful enough, without having to deal with nightmare flatmates.
You probably expect there to be some arguing over missing food or who didn’t pay for their share of the taxi, but these roommates have not made a good start. At all. Winnie is set to go to college at UCLA and has been chatting to her future roommates, Guistinna and Ashly over email. After getting a pretty aggressive list of demands from Ashly, Winnie shared screenshots of the group’s email exchange on Twitter.
Ashly emailed Winnie and Guistinna explaining exactly what she wanted in their shared room. She told them “I’m not gonna settle for anything less than what I’m gonna tell you.”
Ashly then goes on to state she will be taking “the top bunk of the bunk bed that has a bottom and top bunk. I DO NOT want the single bunk where it has a desk underneath the top bunk so don’t try to leave me that.”
She also threatens to escalate the situation further if she doesn’t get what she wants, writing “what I stated above is what I’m expecting once I arrive at the dorm and I won’t be in the mood for arguing or other nonsense… If needed be I’ll turn it into a bigger situation so don’t try me.” She also hints that a lot of her anger springs from the fact that she thinks Winnie and Guistinna have been ignoring her emails.
After receiving an overwhelming response to her tweet, which has 6.7K retweets at the time of writing, Winnie shared a follow-up email with her followers.
Guistinna emailed Ashly back and explained that she and Winnie had taken a bit of time to respond as they were getting ready to move into halls. It also seems it had only actually been a day or two since the three had spoken.
Guistinna explains she felt Ashly’s email was “petty” and took issue with her attitude, writing “GIIRRRL, WE HAVEN’T EVEN MET YET”.
Guistinna signs the email off pretty amicably, saying “I’m not here to fight with you” and “if you’re willing to work this out and start over, then so are we. I’m all about being open minded and getting to know people.”
Winnie then shared a final update on Twitter – when she and Guistinna received a response from their future roommate.
Ashly agrees that she wouldn’t mind starting over. She also writes “I’m also really chill too. But as you can see from my previous email, I am like a ticking time bomb that sets off when certain things I don’t like happen to me. I went far with the assumptions that you both were ignoring me”.
She acknowledges “I do have anger issues… I have low tolerance for a lot of things and my patience level isn’t high at all.”
The situation seems to almost end well, with Ashly saying “if you’d like to request another roommate that’s fine. But if not that’s cool too”.
Freshers’ 2016 is going to be an interesting experience for these three 😂🙈
