10 Bars You Should Go To If You’re a Warwick Student Who Needs a Night Off From Smack

Smack is a great night out and everything, but sometimes even us Warwick students fancy a quiet night in the pub with friends instead of going ‘out out’…

1. The Drawing Board

This bar is one of my favourites in Leamington Spa, because it has a huge variety of board games to play with your mates on a rainy Sunday afternoon. This place also prides itself on being an independent pub, and that’s clear to see from the amount of local and craft ales available.

2. The Royal Pug

If you’re in to your gin (and let’s face it, what millennial isn’t?!) then this is your go-to place for a gin teapot. It doesn’t hurt that they also serve some of the tastiest stone-baked pizzas in town.

3. Zephyr Lounge

A long-time haunt of Warwick hipsters, Zephyr Lounge is the host of ‘Bootsncats’, but they also host tribute acts, one-man band gigs, and poetry slam evenings if you fancy something different to your usual club night.

4. Fizzy Moon

Fizzy Moon is Leamington Spa’s first microbrewery and so they understandably serve a huge range of in-house brewed ales. If beer isn’t your thing, then they also serve a fab espresso martini and all the gins you could dream of.

5. The Duke

No Leamington bar crawl is complete without a visit to the Duke. Not only do they sell cheap Duke’s own beer and cider, but they also have 3 huge screens if you’re a sports fanatic looking for somewhere good to watch the match.

Nice place for a pub quiz 😁

6. Bedford Street Bar

This bar easily has one of the best pub gardens in Leamington Spa, which is perfect for those post-exam summer nights out. Live music is their speciality, with a different band playing almost every night.

7. The White Horse

Along with being one of the oldest pubs in Leamington Spa, The White Horse serves fantastic pub food and is another great place to get your Scrabble on thanks to their great selection of board games.

8. Wilde’s Wine Bar

Not exactly within a student budget, but Wilde’s Wine Bar is somewhere that every Warwick student should visit at least once. One glance at their extensive wine list is enough to see why this place received a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence in 2015. Leamington dwellers are truly lucky to have this place on their doorstep.

9. The Fox and Vivian

The candles and low-lighting make The Fox and Vivian the perfect place to share a bottle of Merlot with a friend.

10. The Cricketers

A truly lovely, traditional pub. Not only is it the perfect place to go for a chilled night out with your squad, they also serve the best Sunday roast you’ll have during term time.
