University of Reading Have Been Defeated by Imperial In University Challenge
So unless academic quiz shows are not your thing, you will know that The University of Reading appeared on University Challenge last night against Imperial College London.
Our team was made up of Macdonald Ukah who is studying a masters in business economics in emerging and developing cultures, Jan Kamieniecki doing a PhD in atmospheric physics, Lewis Blackshaw a statistics undergraduate and team captain Sammie Buzzard who is doing a PhD looking at modelling Antarctic ice shelves.
Reading started strong answering the first question correctly but soon it became apparent Imperial was tough competition.
Imperial stuck in the lead throughout and ended with one of the highest scores any team has obtained in a first round. Whilst Reading ended with a respectable 110 points.
Even though we lost, people of twitter took the time to support our great team.
Well done to our team on #UniversityChallenge last night! A shame to lose but you still did us proud – and Paxman liked us! 🙂

I think I’d rather be invited to Reading’s student party no matter what the result #universitychallenge
