15 Local Hangouts That Become Your Second Home At Kent University

These places across Campus and town are the most popular venues Kent students visit in their time here. Whether you are a regular at these hangouts, or brand new to life at UKC, these places are where we love to spend our time, making Kent home away from home.

1. The Templeman library.

This has to be number one. Uni isn’t all about partying, you have to study and do some hard graft too. With the brand new extension looking fabulous, this is unfortunately a place you grow to love. Its not all that bad, with the library cafés and social areas, it’s a great place to hang out and get some work done.

2. Venue.

Our beloved on-campus club is incredibly close to everything, with a handy location. Despite the sticky floors, Kent students flock to the club weekly for the variety of events. Whether it’s a planned social or a spur of the moment- “shall we go out?”, you can’t deny it, we’ve all had memorable nights at The Venue.

3. Essentials.

We all hate the long queues between lectures but love the overpriced food, and we all simply return here. This becomes the place where you grab a snack or a coffee to keep you going on a daily basis. And with the cheeky hatch open late at night, it’s perfect to get your ‘essential’ drunken cravings sorted.

Not only for sporty types, the sports centre is a great place to hang out, at the gym or for those five minute catch-ups in the changing rooms. The sports pavilion and bar is a great place to watch your friends’ matches. With a variety of classes, studios, hall space, squash courts and more, this is definitely a place where you’ll find yourself winding down on a regular basis.
