15 Places Every Warwick Student Needs To Eat at This Year

As a Warwick University student, you will most likely spend your second and third year living in the lovely and rather pretentious Royal Leamington Spa. For a relatively small place, Leamington is bursting at the seams with independent cafés and restaurants. You’ll therefore definitely be needing this list of delicious places to enjoy a hungover Sunday brunch or a boozy mid-week meal.

1. Coffee Architects

Without a doubt, this place is the very pinnacle of brunching in Leamington Spa. As if that weren’t enough, they make some of the best cakes in the Midlands, and they have lots of gluten free and vegan cakes available too.

Best dish: Blueberry and Lemon Cake.

Oh my! Choices choices…. Yummo!! Love this place!! @coffeearchitects #cake #delicious #cafefood #english

2. Basement Browns

This time last year, Basement Browns was the new kid on the block. It has now cemented its place amongst the best pizza places in Leamington. They offer cheap, but delicious individual pizzas that you can customise at no extra cost. They even make delicious Sicilian pastries like cannoli!

Best dish: Margherita individual pizza with free vegetable toppings.

3. La Coppola Ristorante

This restaurant doesn’t quite meet the ‘student budget’ requisite, but if your parents are visiting for the weekend, make sure you convince them to take you out to this authentic Italian restaurant. It’s worth going just for the décor.

Best dish: Go authentic and have any of their delicious meat or fish dishes.

Does what it says on the tin – great coffee and great New York style bagels.

Best dish: The Yankee Bagel – salt beef, pastrami, Swiss cheese, pickles and American mustard. Heaven. 🙌

5. Kayal

Leamington Spa is truly blessed to have this amazing Indian restaurant. It specialises in South Indian cuisine which sets it apart from all the other Indian restaurants in Leamington. The chefs are born and bred in Kerala, so you know you’re getting truly authentic South Indian food here.

7. The Aviary Café

This café is located in a beautiful conservatory in the Jephson Gardens. It’s the perfect place to grab a coffee on an autumnal Sunday morning and stroll around the gardens to walk off your hangover. If you’re a South Leamington dweller, then it also means you don’t have to walk to the top of the Parade to get your caffeine kick.

Best dish: Spinach, feta and cherry tomato tart.

10. The Emperors

There are distinctly fewer Chinese restaurants in Leamington than Indian restaurants, but The Emperors is an absolute gem. This is the perfect place for some lunchtime dim sum, or why not go all out with a fancy flat dinner?! After all, this type of extravagance is what your student loan is for.

Best dish: Chilli and Salt spare ribs and ‘Char Siu’ Cantonese Roast Pork.
