UEA Students Had Their House Broken Into Last Night On Earlham Road
At around 7:30 last night a man broke into the house of four postgraduate students stealing £400 and a laptop. One of the students witnessed the crime and found a white man in his 30s or 40s hiding in their bathroom.
“I was totally scared,” the victim said, “I was in the house alone, all my room mates had gone to the library and I heard someone try to pry open my bedroom door, twice! Then I went downstairs and found a large English man hiding in our bathroom. When I opened our side gate he fled very quickly, I didn’t get to see his face.”
The house belongs to four Chinese UEA postgraduate students who have said they never thought this could happen to them in Norwich.
A kitchen knife was found on the desk of the ground floor bedroom and is thought to have been used by the burglar. No one was hurt during the incident.
The police made a statement saying, “There was a burglary here tonight, they got in because the back door was left open. It’s important to keep yourself safe, keep yourself locked up. At this stage we don’t know whether we’ve found anything but we would welcome anyone that has seen anything to come forward.”
