16 Emotions You’ll Feel In Every Job Interview
You will face interviews in your life whether it be for a small part-time position whilst you’re at uni, or for your first graduate job. Regardless of the role, interviews will always be a horrendous emotional rollercoaster. #RealTalk
Initially, you’re a nervous wreck. You begin to ask yourself lots of ridiculous questions and over-think things. “Have I under-dressed? Have I over-dressed? Is my posture good? OMG How does my hair look?!?!”.
Once more candidates walk in, you assess the talent (or rather, lack of) and you decide that you’ve definitely got this. Competition? Pfft please.
But then you start to feel pangs of paranoia again. “Do I have sweat patches? Can people see them? OMG WHERE ARE THE REFLECTIVE SURFACES, I NEED TO KNOW HOW MY HAIR LOOKS!”
You are given a brief of the day and although you’re trying to stay normal, inside you are freaking the hell out.
There is always one person who kisses arse a little too much. Who do they think they are?
You start seeing that this interview could make or break you. ALL IS AT STAKE.
When it’s your turn to go in, you’re pumped. This is your time to shine and show everyone what you’re made of.
“I’M A PERFECTIONIST, I’M GREAT, I NEED A JOB. I’LL SHINE YOUR SHOES AND I MAKE KILLER BROWNIES. I CAN’T SPEND ANYMORE DAYS WATCHING JEREMY KYLE SURROUNDED BY TESCO VALUE DIGESTIVES, JUST HIRE ME PLEAAAAASE!”
You have to play it cool in the fear that you’ll come across as an arrogant prick when the interviewers compliment you on your impressive CV.
You get too comfortable and realise that you’ve let your motor-mouth run and just word-vomitted all over the scene. Did they really need to know that about you?
“IT’S OVER. Somebody pass me the vodka”
“Shit, it really is out of my hands isn’t it!? SERIOUSLY, A PINT OF VODKA, NOW.”
You just want to find out what they think about you, you don’t want to wait ‘a few days’. It’s only been 5 minutes and this waiting game is already killing you.
You start to question why it would take so long for them to make a decision. You were clearly the greatest person there/ever!
You then realise you are over-thinking things again and decide that Que sera, sera. Whatever will be, will be. Right? RIGHT?!
16. Realisation and relief again.
You have finally found a mirror on your way out and you see that your hair looked good this whole time.
