10 Places Every Student Needs To Drink While Studying In Middlesbrough

For students that haven’t lived in Teesside before, it’s important to know where the best places to drink around the area are and here are 10 of the best!

1. The SU.

The most obvious of the list but come on, Squids on a Thursday? It’s hard to find anywhere cheaper.

2. Bar Cuda.

If you’re looking for somewhere to have pre-drinks before a mid-week night out in Middlesbrough Bar Cuda is the place. Why? £1 jagerbombs.

3. The Dickens Inn.

The first of 3 places to be found on Southfield Road, which is right next to the university. The Dickens is a great bar with a great atmosphere that can be considered like a club at times. Food is decent and the drink are relatively cheap, plus it has a great smoking area.

4. Resolution (Lloyds No. 1).

Your typical Wetherspoons/Lloyds that also offers a vast range of drinks and special offers. It has two floors with a massive bar on each and is always full and lively come the football or weekends.

5. The Star.

The second pub on the list on Southfield Road. The Star is a great place for students and has decent food and well-priced drinks with a dancefloor for the weekends. Plus, it’s great for sports events too!

6. The Isaac Wilson.

Another place commonly used for pre-drinks during the weekend with a great selection of craft beers. It’s also a decent place to watch the football and the food is pretty good.

7. Doctor Browns.

Doc Browns can be found on Corporation Road, just a minute away from the Empire. It has a great friendly atmosphere and is popular with the locals, especially before a match. Unlike many others on this list, it also plays host to live music on a regular basis.

8. The Southfield.

The third and last pub to found on Southfield Road offers a lively atmosphere at all times, including match days and weekends. It’s a regular hang out space for students and showcases great offers, cool drinks, live music, and pool tables.

9. The Swatters Carr.

Situated close to the university, the Swatters Carr is a great place to chill with a few drinks. It also offers a great variety of food served at a high standard.

10. The Twisted Lip.

If you’re looking for something a little a bit different then look no further than the hidden gem that is The Twisted Lip. Tucked away on Baker Street, just a couple minutes walk from the university, it is a great place to chill.
